Scotland's new Christmas bubble rules explained as tighter coronavirus measures are announced

Nicola Sturgeon has announced stricter laws on Christmas bubbles for what is going to be a very different festive period. Health and government officials have expressed concerns over a new strain of Covid, which is said to be spreading quicker then the original variant of the virus.

It first arrived in the south east of the UK, but has since spread to some parts of Scotland. The First Minister confirmed that 17 cases of the new variant have so far been identified north of the border.
