A retired firefighter who dedicated 27 years to saving lives has died of Covid-19. Derek Wilkie, 57, from Nairn, passed away on Sunday in the intensive care unit at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
The flag at Inverness fire station will be lowered to half mast in recognition of his work. Mr Wilkie had been in intensive care for two weeks.
One of his two adult sons, who had also contracted the condition, has since recovered.
