Sir Paul McCartney has blasted China over the “medieval” wet markets he blames for causing the coronavirus pandemic. Macca, 77, said the country “might as well be letting off atomic bombs”.
It is believed Covid-19 originated at a live animal market in Wuhan and was transmitted from illegally sold bat meat. Sir Paul urged China to ban the markets, adding: “Whoever is responsible for this is at war with the world. “Let’s face it, it is a little mediaeval eating bats… unless you are the Osbournes.” He then jokingly added “Blame it on Ozzy,” referencing the time the Black Sabbath frontman famously bit the head off a live bat on stage.
