The South African Covid-19 variant appears to have spread across England - here's everything we know so far. Health officials said 11 people - who have no links to travel - have tested positive for the variant across England in the last five or six days.

People living in postcodes where the mutation has been detected have been warned to stay at home and get a test even if they don't have symptoms.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock gave the stark announcement earlier today after 105 cases of the new mutation were identified across eight postcodes in England.

Door-to-door testing is set to start tomorrow in the postcodes where it has been identified. They are: Southport (PR9), Walsall (WS2), Ealing (W7), Tottenham (N17), Mitcham (CR4), Broxbourne
