Sports Direct was forced to close one of its stores after a snake crawled in – it had reopened for the first time in months since the coronavirus lockdown.
The serpent was found in one of its stores in Devon which meant the chain had to close down for hours, despite queuing customers.The sports clothing and accessories chain in Newton Abbot had opened its doors for the first time as high street retailers were given the go ahead to resume business.
However, animal rights experts slammed the store for not "helping" the snake earlier. It was discovered at around 11am and handed over to the local vet six hours later, at around 5pm.Snake expert Sean Nichol, from For Goodness Snakes, was alerted by friends to the unfolding drama - and turned up.
