Animal lovers are being encouraged to donate much needed hay to the SSPCA’s Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.Scotland’s animal welfare charity has seen an influx of rabbits at the Bothwell Road based centre in Hamilton.
Several of the new arrivals were also pregnant, with their babies only adding to the demand for food.Centre manager Gillian Boyle said: “We are appealing for hay and other items for our rabbits and Guinea pigs.“We’re currently caring for 49 rabbits and nine Guinea pigs, so we are going through our hay supplies much faster than usual.“We’ve got so many small mammals at the moment we’ve even had to convert some of our kennel space into impromptu bunny homes as our rabbitry is full.“It can be a struggle to keep up
