Discussing how she initially dismissed people’s concerns, Shirley decided to go to the doctors after more than 10 people contacted her.

She explained to Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid: “I put up my right arm and one or two people got in touch, I kind of ignored it, and then there was about 11 people so I thought ‘no I’d better go to the doctors’.” Shirley went on to say that while her doctor couldn’t detect a lump, she looked at the Strictly judge’s previous bloodwork from a few.
