Teacher wearing face shield checks pupils' temperatures as they return to school

A staff member wearing a plastic face shield checked children's temperatures to find out if they had coronavirus as they returned to school for the first time in 10 weeks.

It was one of several safety measures in place as pupils arrived at Harris Primary Academy in London on Monday morning as the Covid-19 lockdown was eased in England.

The Government is allowing schools in England to reopen to more Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 students from Monday - and students were greeted by major changes at the gates and inside the classroom.

As children arrived at Harris Primary Academy, they were greeted by a staff member who was wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as she scanned their foreheads to find out if they had a fever.
