Toilet paper panic buyers have led to 3,000 sewer blockages in one city alone since the coronavirus lockdown began. The staggering amount of call-outs to deal with clogged pipes came in the Severn Trent network alone over the last two weeks.
There has been a huge rise in people flushing kitchen roll and baby wipes down the loo. Some poor souls have been forced to use newspaper to wipe themselves.
Which is less than ideal on two counts. Toilet paper is specifically designed to break up when flushed away, and it’s also a bit kinder to your intimate areas than news-based alternatives.
