A violent thug left a doorman and a barmaid lying unconscious in the street - after he was refused entry to a nightclub for wearing a tracksuit.

Dean Wilkes launched a horror attack on bouncer Johnny Dewar after being turned away from the 4042 club in Edinburgh city centre last year.

Wilkes, 29, punched the doorman to the ground from behind before kicking the man to the head as he lay defenceless on the ground. The heavily-tattooed thug then knocked out barmaid Barbara Keszthelyi as she attempted to help her workmate by punching her to the head.

Wilkes' pal Kevin Black, 36, also joined in the savage attack by kicking the door steward to the head as he lay unconscious in the street during the early morning assault.
