French football club Stade de Reims last night revealed club doctor Bernard Gonzalez has tragically committed suicide after being diagnosed with coronavirus.
French outlet Le Parisien report the 60-year-old medic took his own life on Sunday afternoon, shortly after being told he had contracted Covid-19.
Gonzalez is said to have been in quarantine with his wife, who also had the virus, at the time of his death. Covid-19 continues to spread at pace around the world, with most countries enforcing strict lockdowns on the public.
