Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday addressed Bill Morneau resigning as finance minister the day prior, saying he worked “tirelessly” over the past five years and would continue to make “important contributions” to the country in years to come.

Asked about the resignation, Trudeau said they needed a new team focused on both the present and future in terms of rebuilding the economy, but would not say if he had asked Morneau to stay.
