Tyson Fury will not fight Deontay Wilder for the third time because of the financial effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Hearn's Matchroom promote fellow heavyweight superstar Anthony Joshua and he claimed that those involved can no longer “afford to do Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder on the original terms”.
He also said the financial ramifications of the crisis may mean it is considered too much of a risk to give Wilder a chance to “upset the apple cart for hundreds of millions of dollars down the road” with a pair of bouts between Fury and Joshua agreed for 2021. “I can’t see Tyson Fury fighting Deontay Wilder,” Hearn told talkSPORT : “The reason being, this is all pre-COVID don’t forget, they’ve lost a fortune promoting Tyson Fury.
