The UK's coronavirus hospital death toll has increased by 12, with all of the fatalities occurring in England as Scotland and Wales reported another sharp rise in cases.
The total is now 34,294. There were no new Covid-19 deaths in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in the previous 24 hours amid fresh fears of a second wave of the virus.
Wales announced 165 new confirmed cases, while Scotland reported 159 as the Scottish Government considers extending lockdown curbs to new areas.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned Scotland is "currently at a very dangerous point". Recent death tolls on Wednesdays were 10 on September 2, 12 on August 26, 16 on August 19 and 11 on August 12, which tied the lowest rise on a Wednesday since the lockdown
