A hapless man has become an internet sensation after sharing his story of how he got quarantined three times in a row for nearly 50 days during the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Xiong, who has been staying at home in Jining, Shandong province in east China since the beginning of February, returned from the Philippines two days before the government placed a lockdown and had to self-quarantine for 14 days.

In a viral post on March 28, he explains in the video: "After my quarantine period ended, I decided to go out for a stroll. "I stepped out the door and there was my neighbour, who had just come back from South Korea. "He came straight towards me, followed by a health worker.
