WASHINGTON : US intelligence agencies are unable to determine conclusively how the Covid-19 pandemic emerged, a summary of a classified report released Friday said.

Four agencies assessed, with low confidence, that it reached humans via infected animals, the summary said, but one argued with moderate confidence that it was the result of a lab accident.

The summary, drawn from a much longer classified report presented to President Biden on Tuesday, is unequivocal on two major points. “We judge the virus was not developed as a biological weapon," it stated.

And, it said, U.S. spy agencies don’t think that Chinese officials had foreknowledge of the virus, SARS-COV-2, before the outbreak emerged.

Ontario court certifies class action against insurers related to COVID-19 losses

Ontario’s Superior Court of Justice has certified a class-action lawsuit against fourteen insurance companies that denied business interruption claims related to COVID-19.The class action, launched by several small businesses including a suit store, a smoothie shop and a dance studio, claims businesses across Canada suffered billions of dollars in losses after they were forced to close because of the pandemic.According to court filings, the insurance companies have denied business interruption claims in part because the coverage requires physical loss or damage to the property, which they argue the presence of a virus on the property and government orders restricting operations don’t count towards.

COVID-19: MLHU reports 69 more cases, no deaths from Friday to Monday

The Middlesex-London Health Unit reported 13 COVID-19 cases on Monday, 25 on Sunday and 31 on Saturday. The local case count rose by 68 from Friday to 13,350 on Monday, though 69 total cases were reported in that timeframe.
