Wedding businesses have been “left out in the cold” by the Government following scrapped ceremonies this winter, Labour said.
Shadow business secretary Ed Miliband said the industry faced a £430 million hit this December on top of the loss of earnings during the spring and summer peak season.
Weddings have been hit hard during the Covid-19 crisis with wedding receptions either banned or restricted to just 15 people, and most nuptials therefore cancelled.
But businesses in the sector are ineligible for crucial emergency support because they are not legally forced to close, Labour said.
