West Brom handed Matheus Pereira transfer deadline extension by Sporting Lisbon

Sporting Lisbon have given West Brom an extra 30 days to stump up £8.25million for star loanee Matheus Pereira. The Brazilian attacker, 23, has been superb this term for the second-placed Championship side.

Pereira has scored six goals and added 12 assists in 33 league games, starring under Baggies boss Slaven Bilic. He has become a major favourite with fans at the Hawthorns and Albion had until May 31 to sign him permanently for the agreed sum - under the terms of his £750,000 loan from Sporting.

But with the coronavirus forcing a UK lockdown, Sporting have now extended the deadline until June 30. Yet it is said that the Portuguese club will not be allowing any further extensions beyond that.
