Bruno Fernandes could have cost Manchester United just £18m if they had made a move for him this summer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had made the Portugal international a top target in the transfer window.
But the Red Devils could not negotiate a deal with Sporting Lisbon, despite the midfielder keen on the transfer. Instead, Fernandes stayed and had a fine season, scoring 15 goals in all competitions prior to the January window.
Upon the winter sales opening, the 25-year-old eventually got his move to Old Trafford. However, it did not come cheap and United have had to pay up to £67m for his services.
That is a stark increase from the £18m that they could have got him for in the summer. According to Sporting president Federico Varandas, United
