Tougher restrictions could be imposed in the UK if coronavirus cases continue to rise and place the NHS under unsustainable pressure.

Currently England is under ‘Plan B’ restrictions, which was set out in the Government’s Covid Winter Plan, published in September.

Face masks are now mandatory in most indoor settings, people being asked to work from home where possible and proof of a negative test or full vaccination required for large events.

In an effort to increase defences against the Omicron variant, the booster jab rollout has been accelerated, with all over-18s being asked to come forward.
