Woman, 100, fell outside her home and caught coronavirus in hospital before dying

A 100-year-old woman who was taken to hospital after suffering a fall developed coronavirus on the ward and died. Enid Miller tested positive for Covid-19 six days after arriving on the ward and died from the virus one week later, an inquest heard.

The centenarian was found lying on the ground by her neighbour after she fell down a pair of steps at her home in Nantwich, Cheshire.

Her nephew Stuart Cope, who was unable to speak to his dying aunt, was initially told she had fractured her hip. But doctors could not operate due to her age, Stoke on Trent Live reports.

Mrs Miller, who had lived independently for almost three decades, later developed coronavirus on the ward and died. The inquest heard the elderly patient was unable to speak
