Encouraging new data reveals that 25 local areas in England have not seen a single Covid-19 infection in seven days. Public Health England figures show that one area - West Devon - went 30 days without a new case being identified.

And Newcastle, Barrow-in-Furness, Scarborough, Mansfield and Welwyn Hatfield were among the places where no one tested positive in the week up to yesterday.

However as not everyone shows symptoms of the virus, this does not mean the areas are definitely Covid-free. It comes amid concerns of a second wave of cases across the UK, with parts of Europe experiencing a rise of new infections.
