There are 343 people with Covid-19 in hospitals today, according to the latest figures. This is a reduction of 17 on yesterday's figures.

The number of patients with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care remains at 56. Yesterday, the Department of Health was notified of a further 1,789 new cases of Covid-19.

The cumulative number of deaths of those with Covid-19 rose to 5,112, after the Department was notified of 20 deaths in the past week.

The figures came as the Government was told by the National Public Health Emergency Team that Ireland could see a peak of 2,500-3,000 Covid-19 cases a day by mid September, in an optimistic scenario.
