The Health Service Executive's lead for infection control Professor Martin Cormican has moved to reassure people that there is no shortage of Covid-19 vaccines as the HSE begins administering third doses for immunocompromised people today.
Prof Cormican told RTÉ’s Morning Ireland that there is currently a "very good supply" of the vaccine in Ireland. Booster shots will also be offered to everyone over 80, and people over 65 in residential settings from next week.
He said the additional dose for the immunocompromised will include anyone over the age of 12 but in the first instance it will be offered to those aged 16 and over. "There will be a little delay for those between the ages 12 and 15," he said.
