accused of killing a family doctor at a walk-in clinic in central Alberta is to make his first court appearance on Wednesday.Deng Mabiour of Red Deer, Alta., is charged with the first-degree murder of Dr.

Walter Reynolds, a 45-year-old father of two.The 54-year-old suspect is also charged with assault with a weapon and assaulting a police officer.

Red Deer doctor remembered, police say he was killed in a targeted attack RCMP say it was not a random attack and the two men knew each other through the clinic.“In 27 years of policing I’ve never seen a doctor attacked like that,” said RCMP Supt.

Gerald Grobmeier.RCMP received a 911 call Monday reporting an assault in progress at the Village Mall Walk-in Clinic just after 11 a.m.

COVID on Thursday, with 445 in intensive care units as figures continue to trend downwards with hospitalizations dropping below 2,000 for the first time since early January.This is down by 162 hospitalizations and a decrease of four in ICUs since the previous day. Last Thursday, there were 2,797 hospitalizations with 541 in ICU.The province recently began distinguishing between those who were admitted to hospital directly because of COVID, and those who were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for the virus.Of the 1,897 people in hospital with COVID-19, 56 per cent of them were admitted because of the virus, while 44 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19.Of the 445 people in ICUs with the virus, around 76 per cent were admitted because of COVID, while around 24 per cent were admitted for other reasons.
