CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. - A fatal shooting is under investigating after it ended with a car crashing into a home early Sunday morning.Police say the shooting happened around midnight on the 1100 block of East Elmer Road in Cumberland County.The victim died as a result of the shooting, according to police.A car also reportedly crashed into a home nearby where the shooting took place.The identity of the victim has to be released, and no information regarding a motive was given.The shooting is under investigation. 

HINDMAN, Ky. - The number of deaths from massive flooding in Kentucky climbed to 26 on Sunday and several dozen people remained missing amid a renewed threat of more heavy rain.Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said on NBC’s "Meet The Press" that the death toll had risen by one since Saturday from last week's storms.Beshear has said the number would likely rise significantly and it could take weeks to find all the victims. As many as 37 people were unaccounted for, according to a daily briefing from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.On top of that, more flash flooding was possible in portions of Appalachia on Sunday and Monday as the latest storms roll through, the National Weather Service said.

She was surrounded by dozens of applauding family, friends, and hospital staff members."Today was a happy day at University Hospital! MORRISVILLE, N.C. - A 23-year-old man died Friday afternoon after he jumped or fell out of a plane before it made an emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina.Authorities said the pilot called air traffic control about an hour before making the emergency landing and said the plane had lost its right wheel."Emergency, we’ve lost our right wheel," the pilot told air traffic controllers. "We’d like to speak to Raleigh and make an emergency landing at Raleigh."The pilot pulled off the landing and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

TRENTON, N.J. - Gas prices posted another double-digit drop in New Jersey and around the nation amid low demand and oil prices that remain in the mid-$90s per barrel. AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey on Friday was $4.41, down 10 cents from last week. Drivers were paying $3.18 a gallon on average a year ago at this time. The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $4.25, down another 16 cents from last week. Drivers were paying $3.16 a gallon on average a year ago at this time.

Kentucky's governor said it could take weeks to find all the victims of flash flooding that killed at least 16 people when torrential rains swamped towns across Appalachia.More rainstorms are forecast in coming days as rescue crews continue the struggle to get into hard-hit areas, some of them among the poorest places in America.The rain let up early Friday after parts of eastern Kentucky received between 8 and 10 1/2 inches (20-27 centimeters) over 48 hours. But some waterways were not expected to crest until Saturday and Gov. SHARON HILL, Pa. - An investigative report looking at Sharon Hill Borough's police policies and procedures in the wake of a police shooting that killed 8-year-old Fanta Bility last year was released late Friday, but the report was largely redacted, with any findings and recommendations obscured from public view.The three former officers who fired their weapons in the direction of a crowd leaving a high school football game just outside of Philadelphia, killing Bility and injuring three others, are facing manslaughter and reckless endangerment charges. The borough council voted to fire the officers and to hire an outside special counsel, promising accountability and transparency.The report was given to the borough council almost a month ago.

WASHINGTON - A recent report from researchers at the University of Massachusetts-Boston found that rising inflation has made it difficult for millions of elderly Americans to afford basic needs. The report published in the university’s Elder Index states that half of older women as well as 45% of older men who live alone are classified as living under federal poverty standards.The index accounts for health care, food, housing and transportation costs. In 2020, the index found that 2 million senior couples were considered "financially insecure" based on their incomes compared with the cost of living. Despite these alarming findings, the cost of living isn’t going down.Inflation surged in June and workers' average wages accelerated in the spring — signs that Americans won't likely feel any relief from rising prices anytime soon and that the Federal Reserve will feel compelled to raise borrowing costs further.An inflation gauge closely tracked by the Fed jumped 6.8% in June from a year ago, the government said Friday, the biggest such jump in four decades. Much of the increase was driven by energy and food.On a month-to-month basis, too, prices surged 1% in June, the biggest such rise since 2005.
