TOKYO – Shares rose Monday in Asia as investors were encouraged by positive reports about President Donald Trump’s health after he tested positive for the coronavirus.Trump briefly ventured out in a motorcade on Sunday to salute cheering supporters.
Trump’s medical team reported that his blood oxygen level had dropped twice in recent days, and that they gave him a steroid typically only recommended for the very sick.
They also said his health is improving and that he could be discharged as soon as Monday.Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 gained nearly 1.4% to 23,340.52.
South Korea's Kospi jumped 1.3% to 2,357.93, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 surged 2.4% to 5,932.20. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1.6% to 23,825.56.
