The Policing Authority has said it is concerned about the level of detail that gardai are recording in relation to their use of the Covid-19 emergency legislation.
The authority says it requires more detail in relation to the when gardaí exercised these powers in order to determine if they were used proportionately and appropriately.
The authority has also said it wanted to know from the force when people complied with their directions. The chairman of the authority, Bob Collins, pointed out that the force's use of anti-spit hoods had declined since the authority's last report, but said "the abhorrent practice of gardaí being spat at continues."
