A retired Balloch engineer is creating face shields to help protect frontline health workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.Grandad Malcolm Sharp has joined an army of 3D-printer owners who are using their machines to make plastic visors for NHS and care staff.It takes the 70-year-old around two hours to make one mask from his home and so far he has made around 80 of them, which have been sent to healthcare facilities across the UK.He told the Lennox Herald: “It really interested me as I have a 3D printer and thought it would be nice to do what I can to help.“It was mentioned on the news a couple of weeks ago so I searched for it online and found the group who have organised it.“They are called 3DCrowd UK and there are around 6000 people
