Two motorcyclists from Rochdale who rode out more than 100 miles to Whitby for fish and chips were stopped by police and sent home with Covid-19 fines.
The local police force said the pair travelled to the seaside town in North Yorkshire 'purely' for fish and chips. They were pulled over on the A169 on Sunday.
Both were issued with fixed penalty fines for breaching Covid-19 lockdown laws. Police said it 'did not constitute reasonable travel'.
In a Facebook post, Whitby Town Police said: "Whilst Whitby would usually welcome visitors to sample our finest fish and chips, due to the current climate this does not constitute reasonable travel.
