A man was caught during lockdown driving 224 miles with his wife in the boot to collect some £15 windows he bought on eBay. The unnamed man was on the return leg of a journey from Coventry to Salford when he was stopped by motorway cops on the M6.
The driver had flouted the lockdown to head out to buy the windows despite members of the public being told to only go out for "essential" journeys.
After pulling him over, stunned officer discovered his wife was in the boot of the car because there was not enough room for her to sit in the passenger seat owing to the windows.
