Scientists have joined calls for the British public to wear homemade masks when stepping outdoors in a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Currently, the UK policy towards wearing face masks suggests it is not compulsory to wear outdoors, despite London Mayor Sadiq Khan's calls for people to cover their faces.
Mr Khan has urged the British government to change guidelines towards masks. Professor Sian Griffiths has said Britain should adopt the same policy as the US where citizens are encouraged to make their own masks and wear them outdoors.
Centre for Disease Control (CDC) has been directing the US policy towards wearing face masks in public, and scientists are basing their suggestions on the CDC's advice.
