Liverpool have reportedly jumped ahead of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain in the race to sign Kalidou Koulibaly.
Highly-rated centre-back Koulibaly could be leaving Napoli this summer after five years with the Serie A club. The 28-year-old has long been a target for United - but a swoop for the defender from Liverpool could sabotage Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans.
Jurgen Klopp's side are not expected to make any big-money signings this summer as they contend with the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis that has seen games suspended since March.
However, that has not stopped reports in France from claiming the Reds are now at the front of the queue for Senegal international Koulibaly.
