Premier League fans got a glimpse of what’s to come as the Bundesliga returned on Saturday. There were 12 goals scored in the first five matches played, with Borussia Dortmund getting four of them as they thrashed Schalke.
But, with empty stands and social distancing rules to adhere to, celebrations were not what many are used to. There was no jumping on each other, or exuberant hugs.
Instead, players celebrated on their own with no fans cheering in the background. Some players did jump up towards the empty stands, but it all looked rather strange without the adoring, or indeed abusive opposition, fans there.
But fans need to get used to it with the Premier League set to adopt the same rules when that league returns next month. The
