The Galway Market at St Nicholas in the city centre has re-opened. As part of Phase One of the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, the first traders to return to the market are farming and food related businesses, with other traders following in later phases.
Strict safety restrictions are in place to protect the public and staff with extra space allocated for public access. Stalls have been set up further apart to allow for social distancing.
A return to trading could not have come at a better time for growers, says biodynamic grower Cait Curran. "We have a lot of spring and summer crops coming on such as carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes and greens.
