Care homes may once again be gripped by Covid-19 because of delays in staff testing, the Government is being warned. A care provider boss said testing in homes has got worse and he believes the Government is abandoning the frail and elderly for a second time.
More than 20,000 people in care homes have died during the pandemic despite ministers claiming to have “put our arms round” the vulnerable sector.
Mark Adams, of Community Integrated Care, said residents may now be unwittingly exposed to the virus as 60 per cent of tests given to his 4,500 staff have taken more than two days to come back.
