New Delhi: Centre has extended the Insurance Scheme announced under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package for health workers fighting to contain covid-19 for another three months, the union health ministry said on Friday.

The scheme announced in March provides an insurance cover of ₹50 lakh to around over 22 lakh public healthcare workers including community health workers coming in direct contact and care of covid-19 patients and are at risk.

Earlier the scheme was slated to end on 30th June.The move came as the country continues to bear the brunt of covid-19 pandemic.
