Brazil has suspended a clinical trial for China's Sinovac coronavirus vaccine following the death of a 33-year-old volunteer, it is reported.
The Brazilian health regulator Anvisa said a "severe adverse" event occurred on October 29, but it did not give further details, while trial organisers said a death was unrelated to the vaccine.
A Brazilian newspaper said the adverse event was the death of a 33-year-old Sao Paulo resident who had volunteered for the trial.
State health authorities said they received information that the death was not related to the vaccine, and it was not known if the volunteer had received a dose of the immuniser or a placebo.
