Chinese authorities are stepping up plans to test all of Wuhan’s 11million residents for the coronavirus within a week, after a spike in new infections.
The move comes after official figures claimed there had been no newly-recorded cases for 35 days, until a cluster recently reappeared in the city.
Officials ordered all districts in the city ordered to submit plans on how they will carry out the mass testing of residents within 10 days.
Authorities were told to prioritise testing vulnerable groups and people living in flat complexes. The move was announced after six new cases in Wuhan were announced on Sunday and Monday, following 35 days where no new infections were recorded.
