There are laboratories in China working on contagious diseases which may not be secure enough to prevent leaks, the US has sensationally claimed.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said today he is unsure if each of the reported facilities have adequate security to stop future outbreaks.
He said: “There are multiple labs that are continuing to conduct work, we think, on contagious pathogens inside of China today.” Mr Pompeo continued: “And we don’t know if they are operating at a level of security to prevent this [coronavirus pandemic] from happening again. “Remember this isn’t the first time that we’ve had a virus come out of China.” There is no evidence the virus was spread after being leaked from a Wuhan lab.
