Christophe dies aged 74 as singer loses battle with lung disease

Christophe died aged 74 after the singer battled with emphysema. The French singer was rushed to hospital on March 26 in a Paris.

As time moved on, he was transferred to the city of Brest, in Brittany. Emphysema is a medical condition where the air sacs of the lungs have been damaged to cause breathlessness in a person.

The singer was survived by his wife Véronique Bevilacqua and daughter Lucie. They broke the sad news with a powerful statement but the family said his death had stunned them into silence as they didn't know what to say.

The statement read: "Christophe left. Despite the unfailing dedication of the medical teams, his forces abandoned him. "Today, the words are falling apart … and all the long speeches are indeed futile." Loc
