Toronto Mayor John Tory has announced a 60-day grace period for City of Toronto residents and businesses due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The deferral is retroactive to March 16 and would cover property taxes, water and solid waste utility bill payments for all residents and businesses, Tory said in a statement issued on Friday. “The COVID-19 pandemic has turned people’s lives upside down overnight,” Tory said. “We know families are struggling to figure out how to make ends meet while also worrying about their health and the health of their loved ones.
