Plans are in place ramp up rail services with operators set to employ smartphone apps to ease crowding. Services were expected to be increased gradually from May 18 as part of an easing of the economic lockdown.
Yet there will continue to be severe restrictions with passengers likely only to be allowed to travel during allotted travel times – pre-booked via a smartphone app.
The Telegraph report companies are looking to build an app to keep a close eye on how people will travel through stations at any given time.
An industry source suggests passengers will be made to prebook travel and smart cards would would only work on barriers within those set timeframes.
