A busker has been fined after being caught breaching the coronavirus lockdown rules three times when he was spotted by the police playing the saxophone in Manchester.

Lorii-viorel Romenci, 52, was spotted once in April and twice in May when he was playing the brass instrument with a hand out in front of him in the city centre.

Officers spoke to him and told him twice that busking was not a reasonable excuse to be outside during the pandemic and told him to return home, Manchester Magistrates Court heard.

However, on the last occasion on May 9, officers patrolling on Market Street heard the saxophone being played and saw the defendant standing playing the instrument with a wicker bowl in front of him.
