CORONATION Street's April Fools joke backfired today with fans begging the soap to make its animated version. The soap tried to trick fans with an announcement of a new animated version of the soap in a social media post today.

However as it came in the middle of the coronavirus lockdown that has seen the soap shutter production fans thought it would actually be a good idea.

ITV has also taken the decision to cut the number of episodes broadcast in half to just three a week in an effort to keep the soap on air until summer.
