Coronavirus deaths in UK rocket to 9,875 as Covid-19 kills 917 more

Coronavirus has taken the lives of a further 917 in the UK, the Department of Health and Social Care have confirmed, bringing the UK's confirmed number of Covid-19 deaths teetering on 10,000 at 9,875.

Public Health England confirmed as of 5pm on April 10th 9,875 people have died of Covid-19 in England. It brings the country's total to 8,937 - up from 8,114 on the day before.

The Scottish Government also confirmed a further 47 coronavirus related deaths have been verified in the country, bringing Scotland's total number of deaths to 542 The toll echoes Deputy Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Van-Tam's advice to the Government, urging officials to "keep taking measures to bring this under control."
