Key workers including teachers, bus drivers and supermarket staff will qualify for free coronavirus testing from tomorrow as ministers seek a way out of the lockdown.
The tests, until now restricted to frontline NHS and care staff and care home residents, will now be available to up to 10 million across the UK.
The critical workers and their families will be able to book a test on a Government website if they are displaying symptoms.
Some 18,000 contact tracers will be hired to identify those who have come into close contact with an infected person so they can be quarantined.
