Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan has hit out at criticism that he was able to get a test for coronavirus after developing symptoms. The Good Morning Britain presenter revealed he tested negative for COVID-19 on Monday evening.

Despite not having the deadly virus, he is still taking time off hosting duties on the ITV programme with Ben Shephard joining Susanna Reid on the panel.

He tweeted: “UPDATE: My COVID-19 test was negative. I was advised to take the test by my doctor after developing possible coronavirus symptoms, and was entitled to do so as a Govt-designated essential worker. “I'll be back on @GMB as soon as my doctor advises I'm OK to return to work.” Some followers were less than happy that Piers was able to be tested so quickly, and one replied to
