England's latest coronavirus hotspots have been revealed - with a worrying huge jump in the rate of infection in eight areas.
The latest data comes as the number of new Covid-19 cases in the UK today soared by 3,539 - the highest rise for four months.
Public Health England warned that although most of the new cases were seen in younger people, there were "worrying signs of infections occurring in the elderly." In Bolton, 515 new cases were recorded in the seven days to September 8 - the equivalent of 179.1 per 100,000 people.
This is the highest rate in England and it is up sharply from 94.9 in the seven days to September 1. Oadby and Wigston, in Leicestershire, has the second highest rate, up from 8.8 to 100, with 57 new cases.
