Coronavirus: 'I'm self employed, but I won't get a penny from the Government'

The Chancellor has promised to help self-employed workers with a multi-billion-pound support package that will cover up to 80% of their wages for the next three months as industries continue to be hit by coronavirus.

Rishi Sunak said the plan will be backdated to March and will cover those earning up to £50,000 - equivalent to 95% of the self-employed.

But many workers earning less than this will lose out under the scheme's terms and conditions. Tom Marlow has been self-employed for seven months, working from home as a commercial interior designer.
